Blog - January 2006

17:47 - 29/01/2006 - A lot has happened recently

Rather alot has happened since I last posted. I'll give a little summary, as it would be a bit odd if I only blogged when nothing was happening and when I do do interesting stuff not mention it. So first, on the 20th I had a house party for my birthday, it was a pretty good turn out given I'm some what of a anti-social geek a lot of the time. Fozzie came from just outside london, Rob and Emma came from Reading, big respect to Ken who came all the way from Durham, Ms. Leigh came from chiswick, Nikki, Ronak and Arun from my course came for a while too, plus my five housemates, hardly anyone knew anyone else but I think it worked out well and I think everyone had a good time. I say I think because, as was my intention I got very drunk, if anyone feels like punishing their stomach the morning after I recommend apple sourz + sambucca + red bull, it tastes pretty good though. I'd post some pics but the only one we got were when we were all sober (boring) and when we were all falling asleep at 4am (also boring). However there is this movie of me being slapped by Leigh... I don't know why. Oh just before I went to bed Zen let me into the PUB community after several weeks of diliberation, which was nice.

I got up at 8:30 because half of what I drunk contained caffinee and also my stomach did not feel good, several paracetamel later, and a couple of alker-seltzer (these are great btw), I was feeling just about okay. Foz, Ken and Leigh were still around that day so we walked to the natural history museum and had a look around (though there are huge queues on saturdays :() then got KFC on the walk home. Ken had a train to catch and Leigh had to get home for work, although it turned out that the tube to chiswick wasn't working, though me and foz didn't know this till the day after, so I'm not entirely sure how Leigh did get home... Foz' mate Allen came over later, unfortunately me and foz were rather hungover so we just hung at the house (and I fell asleep for a while, well noone else got up till noon, I'd had half the sleep of anyone else :P). Me and Foz got a pizza express oven pizza (I love those things) when we took Allen to the tube, came back to the house and watched theoriginal starwars and ate pizza.

On Sunday my parents came down from shropshire, and brought presents! I got a digital camera, which I'll be using to post loads of pic on my website and msn space soon enough, and a photo printer too! (As well as all the bits and bobs, eg photo paper etc). Now my entire computer matches, including the printer, ooo shiny. We went to Gourmet Burger Kitchen which as always was very good and very filling. We also took a trip to putney where I bought myself weights and a weights bench from argos (I need to stop spending so much money :s), very good job my parents were around, I don't think it would have been physically possible to carry 50Kg of weights + bars + 20Kg bench 3/4 miles from putney to fulham!

Monday was back to Uni (I have so much work to catch up on it's ridiculous), then I spent the evening making my weights bench, didn't get it finished till 2am, but I wasn't going to let it beat me! Tuesday I started following my work out schedule as planned by the 'muscle master' Max, and I've got to say it really does make you feel good, and I've kept it up all week and can see myself continuing. I got about 5-6 hours sleep every night this last week so I didn't go out on friday I just slept. However me, Gordon, Ross and Tom (Monkey is off skiing somewhere and John went to Newcastle then split his head open ice skating) went out to the Rocket just outside Euston last night which was good fun, I've just got to remember that straight sambucca is vile when your relativitly sober even if it tastes nice once you're drunk. Amusingly I got left behind on catching (or not in my case) the first night bus, I really need to get an oyster card, fortunately there was another one going the same enough way along in 7 minutes, so I caught up with them at the next stop. Then I came back and played Need for Speed: Most Wanted until 6am.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is probably the reason I didn't get enough sleep this week, it's a very fun game, and as I've got everything maxed out, it's very shiny too. I only get around 30 fps, but it's perfectly playable, although my computer starts to complain and get jerker after about 2 hours constant play, but that's a good thing because it means I stop playing and can go do something else (I've found out this is because NFS:MW doesn't like dual processors, so now I can set it to just use one and play for as long as I like =/). A few other things happened this week, but I either can't really talk about them online (nothing dodgy tho I promise) or I can't actually remember the details at the moment. Looking back at my courses, i've realised that I need to pretty much learn the whole of first year maths again, as well as last terms courses and then this terms courses, that said I really need to get down to work, but have I? Of course not, someone need to give me a kick in the ass...

[Oh and just thought I'd add that in 2 weeks, I managed to watch the first series of Battlestar Galatica (including the 3 hour intro movie thing), the second season of 24, the second part of the first series of Lost and all 3 of the original Star Wars films. I probably should have spent the time working].

15:27 - 18/01/2006 - The Beast is Complete

My new PC speakers just arrived, they are Logitech z2300, 200W RMS power (400W peak power), with a 8" sub woofer, I christened them with Matt Silver - Unique.... If I could describe in words how unbelievely sexy these speakers are I would, instead I'll just say think Tricia Helfer. Now I'm gonna get back to listening to music.

12:39 - 17/01/2006 - At University -

I'm sitting in the physics computer room waiting for my personal tutorial at 1:36. So I thought I'd take the opportunity to update my LJ. Coming back to the house yesterday, we were surprised to find a toilet in our living room, it wasn't there that morning, we didn't put it there and there were no signs of forced entry, so I'd make the guess Blaze (our Landlord) put it there, although most of my housemates are convinced it was the students living next door... Anyways, I'm trying to decide if I want to walk to battersea to see if this karate club I found still exists, ofc if it does there's then the question if I can be arsed to walk home then walk back again, I could try and get there for when it would start, but I'm not sure I can do that as I have no idea how long it takes to get there, and I'd feel a bit silly walkin in karate kit to get there and find it's not on. I suppose I could talk to my tutor about that, I also wonder if he's got my test results :S, they are likely to be around the 10% mark I feel. Oh something else that I'm thinkin about is if argos is open on sundays I might recruit my parents to help me pick up some weights / bench from the nearest argos rather than waiting for them to come in stock for home delivery... It occurs to me this is just a load of disconnected rambling, probably because I'm talking to 4 different people on msn as well as writing this so I'm gonna stop now, more later, perhaps.

12:05 - 11/01/2006 - New Year -

My site at spoonofdeath.com isn't up to much at the moment, cause I've decided to change the layout, except I haven't really got round to it, but I can't be bothered to update on the old layout either. It's a New Year, and I've made lots of resolutions to myself, some are going well, some aren't. They include getting my life in order, it's been off quite a lot lately, me tying myself in knots about Rachel and other things. Me and Rachel split up about a week ago now, since then I've been kind of restless trying to find something to do, unfortuantely it hasn't been great enough to get down to learning last term's courses (another one of my resolutions).

I've also decided to build up some muscle (and hence put on some weight too), as I'm around a stone and a half underweight! I've made some progress on that, mainly been working on my abs so far because I see them as a weak point what with a large scar across them that cut through them 18 months back or so, but under the watchful eye of the 'Muscle Master' (Mr. look at me bench 107% of my body weight ;]) I'm buying some weights.

I wanted to attend a karate club in battersea this term too (as it practices my style of karate according their website), but when I tried to ring the instructor I couldn't get through, apprantly the number doesn't take incoming calls, which doesn't bode too well, however I'm going to go do some scouting of the gym it's meant to be at see if I can get some detials, and maybe see about joining, I'd quite like someone to go with, but no one has the free time or has a bad back or some excuse =p. It's quite a way though, probably 40-50 minutes walk, maybe that's why no one wants to come with me, lol.

I've also brought my saxophone down to fulham with me, I've forgotten how to play half the sharps and flats, but I seem to be getting some nice notes out of it, no squeaks and such like, so I also plan to practice that some more, though I really need some new music to play and in all honesty I have no idea what kind of music I actually want to play.

I bought myself a new computer for christmas, AMD x2 4400+ (running at 4800+), 7800GTX and 3 Gb of Corsiar RAM, I also got myself a new mouse, the Logitech g5, and a new keyboard, Logitech g15. I'm thinking about buying myself some new speakers to complete the shinyness and at the same time a new webcam, because the webcam that came free with my last graphics card, only works if you're currently using that card, grrr.

I'm having a house party on the 20th for my 20th (which is on the 21st), which I'm quite looking forward to, I'm planning to spend my last night as a teenager in typical teenage fashion, getting very drunk and not getting any, =p. If anyone I like reads this that I haven't invited and you'd like to come feel free to text me and I'll let you know more details, if you don't have my number it means I probably don't like you :P. Anyways, now I have to walk into uni to hand in my Essay "Controlled Fusion - the future of power production?", Happy New Year Everyone.
